Character: Minotaur OC Base

Base model for my new minotaur character.

I created this model over a week, giving it a few poses and costumes along the way to refine the rigging. The final result is a really clean base that I can now use in animated scenes, as a starting point for future similarly-shaped models.

Made in Blender.

By putting the model in different poses and motions, I could really get into the fine detail of rigging the mesh in areas like the armpit and groin.

I used a combination of Blender's weightpainting tools and assigning weights to vertices manually wherever I saw a trouble spot. I could play the animation and make minute changes to the bone weights live.

Side-view of the rig in a bench press motion that I quickly put together. I use a combination of forward and inverse kinematics in the character rig, and can attach/detach hands to objects easily. The digitigrade legs cause me some trouble though.

Likewise, a quick curl animation helped me focus on the fold of the elbows and the swell of the biceps.

If you made it this far you probably won't mind seeing this. Thanks for taking a look. ;)
